This funding is offered to enable recipients to complete a doctoral or postdoctoral project if they can demonstrate that all other funding options have been exhausted and if the project can be realistically completed within the specified time. Funds may be made available to finance preliminary work, e.g. to obtain a doctoral or postdoctoral fellowship, or for bridging purposes, if it can be demonstrated that no other funding options are available. Transitional funding is awarded once a year on the basis of a proposal.
